Our pre-production services span from storyboarding and animatics to style frames and script writing.
What is pre-production, exactly? It’s the planning process before a video is produced, and shot with a video camera, or animated, and can include several steps, depending on the project. It is also called the pre-production phase of a project:

Storyboarding
Storyboarding is the process of creating a series of still images to tell the key moments in a video project. Storyboards can be very detailed and in-depth, or simple sketches to outline an idea. Large animation and film studios sometimes take years to storyboard out their entire films.
Storyboards act as a guide for animation or film production companies to follow for guidance. They are used to put together a project at the start without wasting time with repeated revisions later on.
Styleframes
Styleframes are intended to be still image examples of what the final video will look like on a paused frame. They are done at the very beginning of a project to solidify a video’s overall “style”. Therefore, they are usually created before storyboarding begins.
As an aside, styleframes are especially important for advertising projects. This is because advertisements are short, and need to have an impact on their audience right away. This means the style and look of the video really matters to get right.
Script Writing
Script writing for video is usually the first step and is the foundation of a project. It’s not just writing out the words that a voice actor will say, however. Script writing includes information like runtime for a scene, describing actions, characters, and other visuals.

Animatics
An animatic is a moving storyboard, meaning it’s your storyboard set to voiceover as a guide for animation. Animatics are especially useful for advertising, music videos, or television and film projects. They are a more in-depth version of the storyboard set to audio tracks like voiceover and music.
Storyboarding and animatics are incredibly useful for more story-based projects, or projects with a lot of details that need to be worked out ahead of time. Storyboarding and animatics go hand in hand in the pre-production process, and we offer both.
